I have large items that will not fit in my bin, what can I do?

If you have items that are too large to fit in your bin, you can arrange for a special bulky waste collection. Please contact us on the details on the left hand side.

I have more rubbish than will fit in my bin, what can I do?

You can reduce the amount of waste you put in your rubbish bin by up to 60% by following the information provided on the Recycling Tips & Useful links page. If you are recycling all that you can, but still producing extra waste please contact us using the Request an extra bin form, and we will assess your suitability for an extra bin.

I can't manage to move my bin, what can I do?

We provide an assisted bin pull-out for householders who are unable to take their bin to the kerbside because of disability or ill health. Arrangements are made for refuse collectors to wheel your bin out for collection and return it when it has been emptied. We also offer smaller bins that are easy to move.

Where can I get a calendar showing the dates of my recycling collection?

You can now find out your bin collection dates for the year ahead, including Christmas and Bank Holidays by using our new online postcode finder tool. All you need to do is type in your postcode below and click 'Check my bin day' below.

All your collection details will be provided; you can also download your bin collection calendar for the next 12 months here.

Where is my nearest recycling site to recycle glass, plastic, etc?

Go to http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/ and fill in your postcode to the bank locator. This will provide you with a list and map of all your local recycling sites and what can be taken there. You can also Report any queries about council recycling sites by completing the online form.

Why are some residents within Nottingham on different recycling schemes to others?

All local councils have been set a recycling target by central government to introduce a collection of at least two recyclable materials by 2010.

To achieve this target, Nottingham City Council is phasing in collections of different materials across the city. Our aim is to give everyone, regardless of the type of home they live in, a range of recycling opportunities.

There are 128,000 homes within the boundaries of the city centre and these vary from high rise flats, terraced housing and semi detached properties. All of these properties are very different and this means their varying needs and requirements must be looked at before a recycling scheme is put in place.

Now two thirds of Nottingham homes receive a collection of four recyclable materials.

Where does my waste go?

Nottingham City Council use a number of different end markets to dispose of recycling and normal waste. Your green bin waste will either go to the Eastcroft incinerator or be sent to a landfill site in Nottinghamshire.

Do you offer recycling collections for businesses?
