Booking a Ceremony
When you call the Register Office to book a ceremony, the staff member who answers your call, will take your telephone contact details, so that a member of the nationality team can call you back as soon as possible.
When we call, we will offer you a choice of ceremony dates and times to choose from.
Types of Ceremonies
Group ceremonies are held in one of the grand civic reception rooms at the Council House. Ceremonies are held once or twice a month on fixed dates at fixed times. You will be formally presented with your certificate of naturalisation by a civic dignitary and you may bring up to two friends or family members to share this special occasion.
Group ceremonies last approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
There is no fee for a group ceremony because your naturalisation application fee covers this cost.
If you would like to receive your certificate of naturalisation as quickly as possible, or prefer to be seen privately, you can arrange a ceremony at a date and time to suit your schedule (weekdays 9am to 4pm). Your ceremony will be informal and will take place in an office at the Council House, Nottingham. You may bring up to four friends or family members, if you wish. Your ceremony will last approximately twenty minutes.
The fee for a private ceremony is £70.00 per adult. There is no fee for children under 18 years. You will be required to pay this fee on the day of your ceremony by cash, credit or debit card.
Paperwork for your Ceremony
You will need to bring your Home Office letter and a form of identification. If you do not bring your home office letter, we will not be able to release your certificate.
