Social Housing Allocations Policy

Nottingham City Homes

Nottingham City Council has a legal duty to have an allocations policy. This aims to address the housing need in the city and contribute to the development of sustainable neighbourhoods.

It is also a rule of the Council to make the most effective use of its housing i.e. providing housing to those in need.

On 1st April 2018, the Homelessness Reduction Act came in to force which created new homeless duties for the authority.
All homeless applicants are applicants to whom a reasonable preference is owed and they are banded accordingly.
This includes including people with new housing plans.

Bandings
are shown in the revised Housing Allocations Policy. This will be published at the end of the consultation process.
