Live Transport Funding Bid Applications

  • Sustainable Travel Transition Year Fund 2016 to 17- In February 2016, the Department for Transport announced a £20 million Sustainable Travel Transition Year Fund. The competition will award revenue funding to deliver 'ready to go' initiatives during the 2016 to 2017 financial year. A total of £1.875 million revenue is sought to invest in the following three areas; Employability Support, Workplace Travel and Inspire and Motivate.   • Real Time Information application: On Wednesday the 28th October Nottingham City Council in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council submitted a bid to the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for funding to expand the current bus real time information system by 50%. This bid also has the active support of Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council as part of the D2N2 partnership. Successful Transport Funding Bid Applications

Information on some of the successful bids the City Council have secured and are currently delivering:  

  • Car Plus Demonstration Project:  The 2014 Car Plus Demonstration Project bid presents a proposal to establish initiatives to provide better links between public transport and shared transport to encourage multi-modal trips that reduce the need for the private car and facilitate door to door journeys. The proposal aims to build on our existing successful investment in integrated smart card ticketing, cycle hire and car club scheme by providing five new hire points for car club vehicles co-located with City card cycle hire and parking services
  • Local Sustainable Transport Fund 2015 to 16 Revenue Bid: The Nottingham Urban Area 2015 to 16 bid presents a continuation of the existing LSTF programme focused around supporting access to employment, training and skills with a particular emphasis on young people. The programme will deliver bespoke, targeted and universal support through two complementary workstrands; Community Smarter Travel Initiatives to promote travel options to individuals and households and Worksmart Business Travel Support Package for employers to promote business growth and sustainable travel.   • Green Bus Fund (Multiple rounds): Funding to replace existing buses with either hybrid or fully electric buses to reduce emissions and improve the bus fleet nationally. Information on the Green Bus Fund along with Nottingham City Council's funding bids can be found on the Direct.Gov website
  • Cycle Safety Fund: Funding to address key road junctions nationally to make it safer for cyclists to use, Nottingham was awarded a total of £640,000 for improvements to the Dunkirk Roundabout and Mansfield Road/Forest Road
  • National Productivity Investment Fund 2017 to 18: In November 2016 as part of the Autumn Statement, the Government announced that Nottingham City Council would receive £968,000 for 2017 to 2018 to go towards improving roads, cut congestion and improve journey times. Nottingham City Council have proposed to put this funding towards improving London Road’s Southbound Lane, developing  a no stopping Red Route on Queens Road, devising a  congestion hotspot programme and to improve  the Castle Boulevard roundabout– for more information please download the document here
