The Government is proposing to create a national funding formula for the way every school receives money.
This will change the amount of funding many schools get towards their running costs. Some schools will get more money, others will get less. School budgets are already under pressure due to rising pupil numbers and inflation.
We have calculated that under the proposed new funding formula, 98% of schools in Nottingham would lose out.
The reduction would be to schools’ core budget, which pays for all running costs – at a time when costs are rising and pupil numbers in the city are increasing.
The plans are still being decided by the Department of Education. You can read more about how it would work here
Nottingham City Council is preparing a collective response to the proposal, based on the feedback of parents and the public.
It’s vital that we hear as many views as possible on this.
Please take a few minutes to fill in our survey to let us know what you think about the proposed funding formula. The closing date for us to receive feedback is 15 March 2017.
