Police and Crime Commissioner Election 7th May 2020
Elections for the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) will take place on Thursday 7 May 2020.
Voters in 41 police force areas in England & Wales, excluding London, will elect a Police and Crime Commissioner for their force area.

Prospective Candidate and Agents Briefing
Kath Marriott, the Police Area Returning Officer for Nottinghamshire will be hosting an event for any prospective candidates intending to stand at the forthcoming election and their agents. The briefing will be held in Committee Room 1, Rushcliffe Arena, Rugby Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YG at 4pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020. This session will cover the nomination process, issue of poll cards, registering to vote, postal voting and deadlines. Please contact Rushcliffe by email if you will be attending this session.

These elections use the Supplementary Voting system where voters can choose a first preference candidate and a second preference candidate.
When the first preference votes have been counted, if no candidate has an overall majority (more than 50%) the second preference votes for the top two candidates are then counted. First preference and second preference votes for these two candidates are then added together. The candidate with the most total votes wins the election.
Each local authority will count their own votes and provide these to Rushcliffe Borough Council. Once all the results are collated, we will declare who is elected as PCC for Nottinghamshire and this web page will be updated.
How can I vote in PCC Elections?
To vote on Thursday 7 May 2020 you must be registered on the electoral roll or have applied to register by Tuesday 21 April 2020. You can apply online to register to vote, you will need to provide your National Insurance Number. You can also apply to register by contacting us on 0115 981 9911.
If you want to vote by post, you must be registered, and we must have received your completed postal vote application form by 5pm on Wednesday 22 April 2020.

Casting Your Vote
You can cast your vote either in person, by post or by nominating a proxy.
Voting in person at a polling station is very straightforward and there is always a member of staff available to help if you're unsure what to do.
You will be sent a polling card prior to any election which will have on it your polling number, name and address, along with the address of your polling station, the date of the election and the hours of polling. For example, your polling station may be your local library, church hall or community centre. If someone in your household does not receive a polling card and they are eligible to vote, or if the polling cards are not in the correct names please contact us immediately.
