Course Length: 2 hours 

Course Leaders: Early Years Team Support Workers

Audience: PVI Day Nurseries, Preschool Practitioners and Childminders who have attended Introduction to Safeguarding within the last 3 years.

 Course Overview: This course ensures that people who have previously attended training specific to their role are updated on safeguarding children issues, including changes in national context and local policies and procedures. Guidance on best practice will also be explored.

 Course Aims: By the end of the course participants will have:

  • Been updated about new legislation/current developments regarding Safeguarding Children
  • Been reminded about policies and procedures, including definitions of abuse
  • Explored further how issues of diversity impact on safeguarding children
  • Refreshed their understanding of the responsibilities of agencies and workers to safeguard children

Course Pre-requisites: Delegates are required to familiarise themselves with the Safeguarding and Promoting Children’s Welfare requirements and their setting’s Safeguarding Policy prior to attending the training.  Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements are part of the Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

In response to feedback we have extended these sessions to 2 hours to negate any extra work outside the session.

Achieving your certificate: An activity within the course will support you to achieve your certificate of attendance which will be issued by the trainers after the course.

It is recommended that all practitioners update their training every 3 years.
