Applying for schools

If your child lives in No 0ttingham City and was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018, you need to apply for an infant/primary school place for September 2022.

Children who were born between 01 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 and are attending an infant school in year 2 will transfer to a junior school in September 2022. Children in year 2 at a primary school do not need to change school and will stay at that primary school until year 6 and this information does not apply.

If your child was not born between these dates and you wish to apply for a primary school place, you should use the online form on the New to the Area or Wishing to Change Schools' page.

National Offer Day

Applications received before 15 January 2021

The national offer day for primary school applications is 19 April 2022.

If you applied online, you will receive an email on 19 April 2022 notifying you of the outcome of your application (unless you indicated on your application you do not want to receive the decision by email). A decision letter will also be posted to applicants who applied using a paper application form, on 19 April 2022 by second class post. Letters should be received by 22 or 23 April.

Please do not telephone the School Admissions Team for your decision as these will not be given verbally, regardless of the circumstances; you must wait for your email or letter to arrive. We will only reprint decision letters not received by 25 April 2022, so if you have not received your letter do not contact us for another copy until after 23 April.

Applications received after 15 January 2022

If you applied after the closing date of 15 January 2022, you will receive a decision on your application from the end of May onwards.  We will not be able to make a decision on your application prior to this date.

How do I apply?

The closing date for applications was Saturday 15 January 2022.  Applying after the deadline may reduce your chances of getting a place at your preferred school, particularly if it is popular.
