About our Organisation

NTU is one of the UK’s leading universities, renowned for its accessible but inspiring work with businesses and organisations. It is committed to applied research and practical support within the local economy and has received prestigious awards for research and impact.

NTU successfully provides support for businesses of all sizes from the D2N2 area to enable them to start-up, grow, develop leadership and skills, and innovate.

NCVS has provided support services to the city’s voluntary and community sector for almost 150 years. It has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of social enterprise, and in delivering training and support in Nottingham’s diverse communities.

About our UKSPF project

Social Enterprise Accelerator offers aspiring social entrepreneurs and established voluntary sector organisations a free and comprehensive support package to aid organisational development and growth.

The 12 month programme runs from June 2024 to February 2025 and includes: interactive workshops, investment opportunities, networking and speaker events, and one-to-one/small group support on a wide range of topics including:

  • Governance/legal structures 
  • Financial planning/management
  • Securing investment/grants 
  • Sustainability 
  • Leadership
  • Recruitment
  • Carbon literacy 
  • Marketing
  • Tender-readiness 

The programme will culminate in a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in February 2024 which will introduce participating organisations to potential contract providers. 

Social Enterprise Accelerator welcomes all aspiring social entrepreneurs and established social businesses in Nottingham.  We are particularly keen to support enterprises working in the following fields:

  • Health and social care
  • Retail and leisure
  • Those whose goals align with the Carbon Neutral Nottingham 2028 initiative
