Nottingham City Educational Psychology Service

In school settings, you may need to adapt swiftly to provide support and education during unprecedented situations.

Feeling anxious and worried during this time is normal. As school staff, you may harbor additional concerns about how the children and young people you work with will cope, along with a sense of sadness for them. Children and young people are likely to feel anger and sadness in these situations, especially those preparing for their upcoming exams. Reflecting on the feelings associated with this period can be helpful, as they relate to the process of grief, the loss of normality, fear for the future, and the disruption of our usual ways of connecting.

We have gathered resources available online to aid school staff in managing their own wellbeing and that of young people. We have also outlined how the educational psychology service has evolved to offer support to you during this time.
