Nottingham City Council is consulting on future options for its Council Tax Support scheme which helps households on low incomes with their Council Tax bill. 

Youth Justice Board (YJB)

The Youth Justice Board, sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, is a non-departmental public body tasked with the oversight of the youth justice system in England and Wales.  

CGL The Place:

CGL The Place provides a variety of support services for young individuals up to 25 years old concerning drug and alcohol use. They also offer specialised support in a confidential and secure environment for children and young people affected by someone else's substance use, often known as hidden harm. Their goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise and respond appropriately to the risks related to substance use.

Futures

Specialist Personal Advisors provide career guidance, advice, and support in Employment, Training, and Education to young individuals who are NEET—Not in Education, Employment, or Training.

Al-Hurraya

Al-Hurraya help people in Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) communities to overcome multiple adversities, including addiction and crime, to fulfil their full potential.

They specialise in understanding each client’s cultural context to either provide or connect them with practical help that makes sense to them, and work with young people, families and adults.

Nottinghamshire Police

Seconded Police colleagues provide support across the YJS in relation to the delivery of Out of Court Disposals, work with victims, and across a wide remit of intelligence, early notification and information sharing and monitoring processes. They also work directly with children on statutory and early intervention disposals, including those on the Integrated Offender Management scheme and managed as MAPPA offenders.

Nottinghamshire Probation Service

Seconded Probation colleagues support the transition of children to adult Probation services, whether open on community disposals, or in the custodial estate.

YJS Nurses

The YJS Nurses are a specialist nursing service which provides health needs assessments to children and young people within the Youth Justice System.

They aim to reduce health inequalities and improve health outcomes for children who are being supported by Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County YJS.

They deliver health interventions for 10 to 19-year-olds to:

  • Improve psychological wellbeing, emotional and mental health
  • Promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices
  • Promote and increase uptake of the immunisation programme
  • Reduce unplanned pregnancy and improve sexual health through contraception advice, screening and offering C-Card
  • Reduce the impact of substance misuse and reduce avoidable injuries and harm
  • Assess and reduce the impact of criminal and sexual exploitation on health

They also support the wider Youth Justice Service and court processes by contributing to reports and assessments, making referrals to other services and supporting transitions across health providers/localities.

CAMHS Head2Head

CAMHS Head2Head is an assertive outreach team, working with children who:

  • Present symptoms that could indicate early onset psychosis
  • Are on an order within the criminal justice system and have co-morbid mental health or learning difficulties
  • Are experiencing mental health difficulties and have co-morbid substance use needs (dual diagnosis)
  • Have harmful sexual behaviour as well as mental health difficulties and/or a learning disability

Base 51 Young People's Charity

Base 51 is a charity for young people, supporting those aged 11-25 in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire through counselling, mental health services, trauma support, youth programs, workshops, and specialised support and information.

Nottingham Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP)

The Nottingham VRP brings together specialists from health, police, local government, probation and community organisations to tackle violent crime and the underlying causes of violent crime. The VRP takes a public health approach to reducing violent crime, focusing on what will make a difference to whole populations, communities and groups.
