Council Tax Refunds
We are aware of a number of Council Tax refund scams that are currently operating around the country. Someone may telephone you, or appear at your door, claiming to be able to reduce your Council Tax bill. You may be sent an email or text message stating that you are due a refund.
They may use a number of tactics to get you to part with your money including asking for money up front, asking for your bank details, claiming that they are from the Valuation Office Agency or that you must have an agent representing you to appeal against your banding.
You can check your Council Tax band and have it checked free of charge.
