If you live within a controlled parking zone, you may need a Resident Parking Permit to park near your home. These permits ensure that parking spaces are available for local residents.

Apply for a Resident Parking Permit

Completing this service should take around 10 minutes.

To complete this service you will need.

  • You’ll need a debit or credit card to use this service (Your first permit per household is free)
  • Your name and contact details
  • Vehicle registration number(s) and make(s)
  • A valid council tax bill 
  • A certificate of motor insurance (not required for a visitors' permit)
  • Proof of address

Costs

Your first permit per household is free and a charge applies for your second (£35 per year) and third (£50 per year).

The maximum allocation of permits per household is 3 and this is made up of any combination of residents’ or visitors’ permits.

How long it takes

Your permit will be delivered by post within 3–5 working days. During busy periods, this may take up to 14 days. Please ensure you have received your permit before parking.
