Biographical details

Neghat was elected as councillor in 2013 and became the first female British-Pakistani Labour councillor on Nottingham City Council. Neghat has lived in Sneinton and Bakersfield all her life and is passionate about making sure everyone in Nottingham has the best opportunities to succeed and that we invest in the city for future generations.

Neghat is proud to be the first person of colour and only the second woman to lead the city. Neghat also chairs the Nottingham Muslim Women’s Network and is a member of the GMB. Neghat enjoys gardening, playing cricket and her fantasy football league with her Labour Party colleagues.
