About our Organisation

Belong empowers refugees and asylum seekers through Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) that promotes integration and independence. We offer employability support, one-to-one assessments, CV writing, job-search assistance and interview coaching so beneficiaries gain the confidence to navigate the UK labour market.

Our learning programmes deliver ESOL, personal development and employability training and digital skills, while welfare-rights advisers guide clients through benefits claims, debt management and PIP applications. A dedicated youth and sports projects provide social activities and mentoring for young people, and our heritage programme and community events enable participants to explore pasts, celebrate cultural identities and build local connections.

Summary of events and activities to be delivered 

Belong will deliver eight vibrant community events between August 2025 and March 2026 across four venues.

In August - September 2025, two half-day Rainbow Reflections LGBT+ Arts Workshops (18:00–21:00 at Tennyson Hall) invite LGBTQ+ migrants to co-create pride-inspired crafts and build peer connections. Also in September, Traditional Knitting & Crochet Circles (10:00–13:00 at Vine Community Centre) bring together seniors, craft enthusiasts and isolated individuals for intergenerational skill-sharing.

October’s Multicultural Cooking Class (10:00–16:00 at Tennyson Hall) welcomes families, young people and vulnerable residents to share global recipes and culinary stories. November’s Arts & Crafts Heritage Fair (10:00–17:00 at Mary Potter Centre) features live block-printing, embroidery and mosaic workshops open to all ages. December’s Calligraphy & Paper Crafts Workshop (10:00–16:00 Salvation Army) teaches mindfulness-focused writing and origami.

In January 2026, our Community Arts and Heritage Series culminates in a local exhibition at Vine Community Centre showcasing dance, music and traditional crafts. February’s Community Iftar (18:00–20:00 at Tennyson Hall) unites the Muslim community and neighbours for a shared Ramadan meal. March’s Nottingham Cultural Celebration Day (10:00–18:00 at Tennyson Hall) showcases performances, food stalls and interactive exhibits to celebrate the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
