About our Organisation

We are a Nottingham-based company (Formerly The Gramophones) making theatre that lights up our audiences, fans the flames of change and sparks connection. Our shows burn the rulebook by centering female and non-binary characters and setting fire to audience expectations.

Our work is ambitious - made for, by and with communities. We support everyone to join the campfire by breaking down barriers, giving a loudhailer to unheard voices and making the world a little bit brighter. We recently made Take Flight a sensory aerial theatre show for babies and their grown-ups.

Summary of events and activities to be delivered 

Circus Baby Sessions! The sessions are made up of:

  • Sensory circus props - lights, balls, scarves etc- demonstrated by leaders so parents/carers have more ideas how to play with babies.
  • Songs and music and on 15 sessions interactive live music from Rainbow Stripes.
  • Aerial sling for parents to stretch, improving physical wellbeing. Babies can swing in the sling - carefully supported by parents and trained circus practitioner.
  • Well-being check in with cup of tea, snacks for babies if appropriate.
  • Sessions provide activities both for babies and adults.

Venue: Circus Hub, Unit 2 Nelson St, Nottingham NG1 1DR (near Sneinton Market)

Target audience: parents/carers and their babies 0-2

Tuesday mornings, time TBC

Babies: (we worked with developmental phycologist to evaluate)

  • Sessions encourage parents to play with babies
  • Supports baby brain development
  • Supports mental & physical health
  • Research consistently demonstrates that engaging in activities like music and dance fosters cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth. These activities enhance fine motor skills, language development, problem-solving, and emotional expression.
