Short Description of Organisation 

We are a Community Centre within the Bulwell area. The community centre is ran by a group of volunteers many of which are trustees of the Community Association. Within the centre we run a large number of activities based on identified need by the local community.

Our current activities are predominantly focussed on health and wellbeing and include a food bank, energy and benefit advice, health counselling activities, exercise classes, lunch club and children’s activities. The centre has a number of rooms that can be rented out for social functions

Summary of planned improvements 

The planned improvements involve the installation of solar panels on the roof of the community centre. Recently due to rising fuel costs at the community centre we have been ‘challenged’ to meet the higher cost of these charges.

The solar panels are expected to reduce our energy costs so that we can more ably meet these costs. This will allow us to continue the work we are currently doing and focus on new activities without constantly worrying about the increased fuel costs.

This means that whilst we still need to meet the energy costs our focus for future funding will be located on improving services. It also means that costs of providing services within the community will remain affordable to local people rather than increasing costs significantly
