Short Description of Organisation 

Fisher Gate Point, run by Offshoots (East Midlands) CIC, is a community arts centre in Nottingham. It houses multiple small arts organisations, offering spaces for various activities. The centre includes two large community rooms, a café/bar, four recording studios, a co-working space, and 17 artist studios. It also hosts numerous community groups using the space for hourly projects like acting, music, dance, and visual arts. Offshoots and other groups also organise events such as exhibitions, gigs, and fashion shows to showcase project outcomes.

Summary of planned improvements 

Our main community room is careworn and looks shabby compared to the rest of the building. The equipment to deliver our projects and to stage events is outdated.

The UKSPF Grant will provide decoration and acoustic wall paneling to improve the aesthetic and sound quality in the room. There will be a new stage and stage lighting to improve the quality of the events. The breakout room outside the main space will be improved as it currently has a suspended ceiling that was suitable for the buildings’ time in the 1980’s as corporate office spaces. Lighting and seating will be more conducive to a social space.

The café/bar currently runs with fold-away education desks that are used for our youth projects which include accredited courses in music and events management. We will purchase proper bistro table to make the seating in the café more fit for purpose
