Short Description of Organisation 

Take 1 Independent School is a specialist provider and registered charity supporting young people with additional needs and barriers to education. Alongside tailored academic and vocational programmes, we deliver community-focused projects that promote inclusion, creativity, and personal growth.

These include charity creative projects such a music, dance and film, social action initiatives, and creative arts showcases in partnership with local organisations. Our work supports vulnerable members of the community and their families and promotes positive engagement. Through wrap-around support, life skills development, and strong community links, we empower service users to build confidence, independence, and brighter futures.

Summary of planned improvements 

We plan to enhance the Forest Fields Play Centre to better serve both our pupils and the local community. Improvements include creating a landscaped and decked outdoor area with furniture, offering a safe, flexible space for outdoor learning, socialising, and community events. Upgrading the kitchen flooring and installing a dishwasher and washing machine will improve hygiene standards and support the smooth running of daily school activities and holiday clubs.

To enhance digital learning and engagement, we plan to introduce a TV and iPad for use in lessons, clubs, and creative projects. Security and safeguarding will be strengthened through the installation of a door entry system, CCTV, and an upgraded fire alarm—ensuring the safety of pupils, staff, and visitors.

We also aim to install outdoor gym equipment to promote physical activity, health, and wellbeing among young people and the wider community, especially in an area with limited access to green or recreational space.

These improvements will transform the site into a more secure, inclusive, and inspiring environment that supports education, community engagement, and personal development—ensuring that the centre continues to thrive as a valuable and welcoming hub for local families and young people
