About our Organisation
The Bestwood Partnership promotes regeneration in Bestwood and surrounding area, through a range of projects addressing unemployment, promoting training and education. This means working in conjunction with the City Council Employability projects to complete targeted work within Bestwood, Bulwell, Bulwell Forest and Basford wards with current outreach.
The Bestwood Partnership has been around for 25 years, and as such has built its reputation upon commitment, consistency and flexibility. Our agenda needs change as required to focus on community group promotion, participation and volunteering alongside education and training provision, in-depth support for residents to gain sustainable employment. Our employability activity is our greatest achievement.
About our UKSPF project
Our delivery model is centred on one-to-one advisor support, as frequent and in-depth as required for successful delivery.
Identification of customer needs, referrals to other agencies as indicated and above all the building up of self-esteem and participant confidence are central to this.
The Bestwood Partnership has a second-to-none reputation in the community and some advertising but mostly word-of-mouth and local people’s awareness ensures that we are the first point of contact, with outreach from our primary community base of Bestwood Estate Community Centre, where approximately 10% of our delivery will take place.
The other 90% of outreach activity will be at Bulwell Job Centre (DWP), Bulwell Riverside (the Community Hub), Tesco Community Room in Bulwell, Central JCP (Upper Parliament St) in the City Centre, Basford Baptist Church, Southglade Access Centre, Basford Library, St Leo’s Church Bulwell.
These venues are already well-established with our activity and delivery can therefore begin on 1st December 2023. The element of support to community training courses is primarily through a hardship fund, assisting individuals into taking part. The training courses are largely provided by Nottingham College and we only subsidize courses where costs cannot be fully met.
