Short Description of Organisation 

Age UK Notts is the largest local, independent charity supporting older and/or vulnerable people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Established in 1942, our mission is to enhance quality of life and promote the health and wellbeing of older and/or vulnerable people across the city and county.

We help local people find the right support when needed, live independently for as long as possible and enjoy later life. Each year, we support over 40,000 older and/or vulnerable people from all communities and backgrounds. 

Our specialist services provide information, advice, health, wellbeing and dementia care.  

Summary of planned Activity and events

Age UK Notts will distribute air fryers whilst delivering the Warm & Wise service which provides holistic whole house advice on energy saving, alongside small energy saving measures to those 50yrs plus. On average a Warm & Wise visit saves households £226 through advice, habitual changes and the fitting of small measures.  
 
The project will be delivered to 60 homes throughout the wards within the Nottingham City Council area. Home visits will be generated for those in or at risk of fuel poverty, currently without a working air fryer, who will also benefit from a home energy check and identify any further information or signposting needs. 
  
We will assess capacity to safely use and store the air fryer and discuss the long term benefits which extend beyond the initial energy savings. Hot meals can be prepared more quickly, cheaply, safely and healthily than other cooking methods.  
 
Air fryers use up to 80% less energy than a conventional electric oven and require no pre-heating.
