Name of Organisation: Carers Federation
Short Description of Organisation
We are based in Nottingham City where a large proportion of our overall beneficiaries reside.
Carers Federation offers a diverse range of expertly tailored services to unpaid carers including carers groups, activities for carers and individual bespoke support to carers who are struggling and therefore require further support which could include one or all of the following: a carers assessment, respite, carers break.
A carer is an individual who looks after someone due to an illness, disability, frailty, poor mental health, or substance use, and who would struggle without their care.
Summary of planned Activity and events
We will facilitate 3 new warm hub support sessions for unpaid carers to access a warm space but more importantly talk to dedicated staff members about their current situation and how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting them.
Staff will offer a financial review with the carer and ensure they are receiving all qualifying entitlements alongside providing information on how to keep warm, and the impact of fuel poverty.

Staff will develop a fuel poverty plan to include advice, guidance and suggestions on improving carers’ personal circumstances, alongside advice around energy tariffs and support on how to access schemes, including winter fuel discounts, Social Fund schemes and insulation schemes etc.
We will also provide each carer/household with warm packs including items such as blankets, hot water bottles, draught excluders, radiator keys etc to help keep them warm and save energy. The idea of warm packs is to reduce the burden of the cost-of-living crisis and help take up small energy efficiency measures in their own homes.
Staff will deliver warm packs and offer advice and information to a total of 20 carers in Nottingham who are unable to access the support sessions due to their caring role or own frailty.
