Short Description of Organisation 

GAIN Diaspora Limited is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation established in 2015 to support African and other minority ethnic communities across Nottingham.

We deliver culturally responsive community engagement activities focused on tackling inequality, poverty, and exclusion. Our work includes providing food and essentials to low-income households, running wellbeing and information sessions, and offering translation and advocacy support to refugees and asylum seekers.

Through trusted networks, multilingual volunteers, and strong local partnerships, we empower vulnerable households to overcome social and economic challenges helping them to improve financial stability and wellbeing, particularly during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. 

Summary of planned Activity and events

GAIN Diaspora will deliver a Winter Household Support Programme from November 2025 to March 2026, aimed at helping 60 vulnerable Nottingham households manage and reduce the burden of the cost of living. The programme will be delivered from the Howitt Building, alongside outreach activities in local faith centres and community hubs to reach those most in need.

Activities will include monthly distribution of essential winter packs (blankets, warm clothing, hot water bottles, and household items) and food parcels to ease grocery and heating costs. In addition, we will hold twice-monthly community advice and guidance sessions, providing practical support on budgeting, debt management, welfare access, and local cost-of-living schemes. A warm hub will also be hosted to provide safe, welcoming spaces with hot drinks, light meals, and social interaction helping reduce isolation and energy use at home.

This holistic programme combines essential material support with advice and peer engagement to improve household resilience, reduce financial stress, and ensure families remain safe, warm, and connected during the winter months.
