Name of Organisation: Second Chance Learning Academy
Short Description of Organisation
As a charity, we support ‘Second Chance Learners’ in Nottingham—individuals set back or held back by personal circumstances or life events. We bring together people from diverse communities from across all wards of Nottingham to share knowledge and skills.
We deliver equipped2succeed Personal Development programmes, Financial Wellbeing workshops, Energy Saving workshops, 1-1 employability support. We are continuously adapting our offer and content based on community feedback, so please feel free to get in touch and help shape what we do for communities in Nottingham.
Summary of planned Activity and events
We will be delivering Energy Saving Workshops, each followed by our Winter Warm Hubs, aimed at helping families save money and stay well during the colder months. The workshops will include a fun energy-saving quiz, bingo, and a range of interactive activities designed to engage the whole family. Participants will learn practical tips on reducing energy usage at home and understand the impact of different energy-saving measures.
We will also cover strategies for maintaining wellbeing throughout winter, including advice on nutrition, exercise, mindset, and rest. Attendees will have the opportunity to take home gloves and hats for themselves and their children to help stay warm.
Our Winter Warm Hubs will provide a warm, nutritious lunch and hot drinks for attendees. Each household will also receive a heated airer unit and cover to help reduce the burden of rising energy costs. Energy-saving resources will be provided, and Green Doctors will there and available to offer their expert advice. Any leftover food will be carefully packed for attendees can take it home.
