Our goal is to help people escape the social and financial impact of deprivation and reduce poverty. We offer support in Employment & Skills, Community Development, Welfare, debt and budgeting advice, we have a close working relationship with our neighbourhood Benefit Advice Centre, which support with welfare rights, better off calculations debt advice plans and fuel poverty initiatives.
Summary of planned Activity and events
Families will be supported to improve their knowledge of energy efficiency, learn budgeting techniques, and understand how reducing non-essential spending and energy use can positively impact their finances and wellbeing.
We will deliver four monthly Energy Advice sessions at key community venues, led by trained staff and volunteers. These sessions will offer support reducing energy use, understanding energy bills, and accessing government schemes such as ECO4 and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Additionally, we will carry out Home Energy Assessments to provide tailored advice and practical support, including the distribution and installation of energy-saving items. This approach will build awareness, skills, and confidence in DIY energy-saving measures while encouraging peer-to-peer learning.
Our target audience includes households in the Bestwood Partnership delivery wards who are experiencing fuel poverty. This includes, but is not limited to, older adults, families with young children, and those in hard-to-heat homes.
These activities aim to remove practical and financial barriers to energy efficiency by increasing access to advice, support, and simple solutions. Where suitable, households will be referred to trusted local or national retrofit providers for larger improvements.
As a result, households should see lower energy bills, reduced carbon emissions, and improved comfort—particularly during colder months.
