Name of Organisation: The Pythian Club CIC
Short Description of Organisation
The Pythian Club is a Nottingham-based youth organisation operating from Heathfield Community Centre since 2014. We deliver sustainable programmes targeting young people in socio-economically deprived areas to reduce youth violence and strengthen community cohesion. Through educational provision, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, we support vulnerable and at-risk youth who may be detached from services or facing social exclusion.
Our tailored activities help young people build self-esteem, develop growth mindsets, and gain confidence whilst addressing their social, educational, and health needs creating pathways for social mobility and enabling them to reach their full potential within their communities.
Summary of planned Activity and events
Our project will deliver a comprehensive programme of energy efficiency support through four key activities:
Energy Efficiency Workshops – Weekly interactive sessions at our Hub and partner venues will equip households with practical knowledge to reduce energy consumption and bills. Topics include understanding energy tariffs, implementing low-cost measures such as draught-proofing and switching providers, and accessing government schemes or grants for energy efficiency improvements.
Energy Advice Drop-Ins – In partnership with local housing associations, Nottingham City Council, and trusted advisors, we will offer one-to-one sessions providing tailored guidance. Support includes assistance with applications for insulation or boiler replacement schemes, smart meter usage, and managing energy debt.
Distribution of Energy-Saving Resources – Vulnerable households will receive practical items including LED light bulbs, draught excluders, radiator foils, and timers, accompanied by information packs reinforcing workshop content. These resources deliver immediate cost savings whilst encouraging sustainable behavioural change.
Warm Hub and Community Access – We offer warm hubs that welcome the local community in a safe and inclusive environment. Our Hub operates as an open-door service, prioritising support for low-income households, the long-term unemployed, and families experiencing crisis. Strong referral pathways with statutory and voluntary agencies connect us to residents in urgent need. Our Heathfield location – recognised as "postcode neutral" – removes territorial barriers, ensuring individuals from across Nottingham feel safe accessing help.
Planned Dates:
- The programme will run for four months (Nov 2025 – Feb 2026), with activities operating weekly (food provision, café, advice drop-ins) and the Warm Hub available 3 days per week (Wednesday Thursday & Friday), extended as demand requires.
