Booking a Ceremony
When the Home Office sends your naturalisation certificate to us, we will write to you and invite you to a ceremony.
If you have received a home office invitation letter advising you to contact Nottingham Register Office, but we haven’t contacted you with a ceremony date, please email your contact details to email@example.com, and we will contact you to organise a ceremony as soon as your certificate arrives.
If your home address or contact details have changed since you made your application for British Citizenship or your application was made via an immigration advisor or solicitor, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to advise us of your home address, email address and telephone number.
Types of Ceremonies
Group ceremonies are held in one of the civic reception rooms at the Council House. Ceremonies are held on fixed dates and attendance is strictly limited to adults over 18 years who are receiving a naturalisation certificate (children are not permitted to attend). We are very sorry, but due to COVID -19 social distancing requirements, family and friends may not attend the ceremony.
Group ceremonies last approximately thirty minutes. There is no fee for a group ceremony because your naturalisation application fee covers this cost. Please make sure that you bring your home office invitation letter and a form of photo ID to your ceremony.
ALL ATTENDEES WEAR A FACIAL COVERING (UNLESS MEDICALLY EXEMPT) WHEN ATTENDING A CEREMONY.
If you would prefer to be seen privately, we may be able to arrange a private ceremony at a date and time to suit your schedule (weekdays 9am to 4pm). Your ceremony will be informal and will take place in an office at the Council House. You may bring up to four friends or family members, if you wish. Your ceremony will last approximately twenty minutes.
The fee for a private ceremony is £70.00 per adult. There is no fee for children under 18 years. You will be required to pay this fee in advance over the telephone using your credit or debit card.
You will need to bring your Home Office letter and a form of identification to your ceremony.
ALL ATTENDEES MUST WEAR A FACIAL COVERING (UNLESS MEDICALLY EXEMPT) WHEN ATTENDING A CEREMONY.
