Safer Sleeping for Babies
Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Partnership and Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership have developed the Safer Sleeping Risk Assessment Tool to support practitioners to identify if parents or carers are putting a baby to sleep in an unsafe way.
Other resources have also been developed to help practitioners, click below to download files:
- Safer Sleep Professional Briefing

We strongly recommend practitioners take time to familiarise themselves with the excellent range of information and resources published by the Lullaby Trust.

Supporting the Summer Safer Sleep Campaign
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Safer Sleep Steering Group is launching a Summer Safety: Safer Sleep Away from Home campaign.
The campaign focuses on the importance of maintaining safer sleep practices when families are away from home, including holidays, overnight stays with family and friends, caravan holidays and other travel. Changes to routine and unfamiliar sleeping environments can increase risks, making it vital that safer sleep messages are consistently promoted.
Sadly, around 5-6 babies across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire die each year in an unsafe sleep environment. By working together, we can help ensure families receive clear, consistent and potentially life-saving advice.
