Have your say on proposed changes to Council Tax Support |

Nottingham City Council is consulting on future options for its Council Tax Support scheme which helps households on low incomes with their Council Tax bill.

If you admit the offence, you may have your case dealt with without going to Court. This is called an Out of Court disposal, and you may be referred to the YJS to be dealt with by an Out of Court Disposal Panel.

Before the panel convenes, a dedicated worker will meet with you and your parents or carers to discuss the incident and understand your circumstances.

They will also gather information from other professional services that you may be working with. They will complete an assessment which will explore ways to help you steer clear of trouble and will identify any support you may need to make the most of your life.

The Out of Court disposal panel is made up by people from the Youth Justice Service, Nottinghamshire Police, Health, Children’s Services and Education partners.

They meet every week and when they discuss your case they will read the assessment that has been completed on you and any relevant information from victims, discuss the incident, and will decide the most suitable course of action for you and your circumstances.

The different types of Out of Court Disposals which can be given are

  • Community Resolution
  • Outcome 20
  • Outcome 21
  • Outcome 22
  • Youth Caution
  • Youth Conditional Caution.

After the panel, you'll be informed of the outcome and any activities you're expected to undertake.

You may have to meet with a YJS Police Officer who will issue the out of court disposal. If necessary, a Youth Justice Service worker will meet with you to come up with a plan to assist you in completing these activities, aiming to equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and support to prevent you getting in trouble with the Police again.
