Love Your City Centre

Overview

We’re taking action to make Nottingham’s city centre safer, cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

The Love Your City Centre campaign is a partnership between Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police, universities, local businesses, and community organisations. Together, we’re tackling issues like graffiti, rough sleeping, begging, antisocial behaviour, littering, fly-tipping and crime — through high-visibility enforcement and real community support.

What We’re Doing

We’re stepping up across the city centre with:

• Extra patrols from Neighbourhood Safety Officers and Nottinghamshire Police
• Fixed Penalty Notices for fly-tipping, littering and graffiti
• Targeted clean-up days in hotspot areas like Hockley, Lace Market and Old Market Square
• Knife crime interventions, including surrender bins and education
• Support for rough sleepers via referral and outreach services
• Street Support promotion to encourage giving safely and effectively
• Joint action with businesses and universities to protect public spaces

Recent Highlights

• £2,175 issued in Fixed Penalty Notices in just under a month
• 100 graffiti investigations launched
• 94 fly posters removed
• Deep cleans completed in city centre hotspots
• Visible police and council presence during Days of Action
