Stuart Fair

Corporate Director of Resources (s151 officer and CFO)

Stuart Fair joined us as Corporate Director of Finance and Section 151 Officer in late 2024, stepping in at a pivotal moment to lead our financial turnaround.

He brings over four decades of financial leadership to Nottingham. His isn't just a story about length of service; it's about depth of experience. Before arriving here, Stuart held interim director roles at North Lincolnshire, Tameside, and Wirral councils – each time stepping in to provide stability and strategic direction. For 17 years prior, he was at CIPFA, advising on massive projects like new hospital and PFI initiatives, and even providing expert evidence for public inquiries, including the Edinburgh Tram Inquiry.

Stuart has been the steady hand guiding Nottingham towards its new-found stability. He’s overseen the narrowing of our in-year budget gaps and the strengthening of our financial controls. But for Stuart, stability was never the finish line—it's the starting point. He’s now focused on building the high-performing team that will take us from stable to truly innovative, ensuring our service is equipped to shape Nottingham's future for years to come.
