The Government has announced that Commissioners are to be appointed for Nottingham City Council.  For further information, the council’s response and FAQs can be read here.

Exemption to Carry Wheelchairs

To apply for an exemption for the carriage of a wheelchair you will need to complete the following forms:

 

 

It is the responsibility of the driver who requires an exemption to apply to the Council.

When submitting your completed form, this must be accompanied by the Medical Assessment form completed by your GP or Consultant who is treating you for the condition and who has full access to your medical history.

Based on the evidence provided the Council’s Taxi Licensing Compliance Manager will determine if you should be exempt from these duties. If approved, we will issue you with an Exemption Certificate, and an Exemption Notice to display prominently in the vehicle at all times.

You can appeal to the magistrates' court within 28 days if we decide not to issue you with an Exemption Certificate

Exemption to Carry Assistance Dogs

To apply for an exemption for the carriage of an assistance dog you will need to complete the following forms:

 

 

It is the responsibility of the driver who requires an exemption to apply to the Council.

Failure to comply with the duties set out in the Act is a criminal offence, subject on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (currently £1,000).
