Open Door is a Day Service for people who are looking for help and support with their mental health issues or emotional distress. It aims to help these people lead healthy, active, and independent lives.

At Open Door we believe that recovery is an individual experience, and we aim to support you on your journey to regain a satisfying life alongside your mental health issue. We offer a wide range of Centre based and social activities including coping skills courses, discussion groups, cookery groups, walking, art, reading and relaxation. We also offer outdoor and adventure therapy.

At Open Door you can:

  • Be yourself amongst people who share similar experiences
  • Receive support from staff with experience in mental health
  • Access a wide range of therapeutic and social activities at the project and in the local community

Once you decide to take up a place at Open Door you will be allocated a key worker who can offer individual support to help you achieve your goals. Many of our members also value peer support at the centre, as well as the opportunity to participate in therapeutic groups and activities.

As with all social care services, there may be a small charge for the service depending on your financial circumstances.

  • Fairer Charging - Following your self-directed support assessment, the Fairer Charging Team will complete a financial assessment with you to find out if you will have to contribute.
  • Personal Budget - If you are eligible for a personal budget through self-directed support, you can request to use the budget to attend Open Door.
  • Self-fund - You can self-fund if you are not eligible for a personal budget.

If you are referring someone, please request a self-directed support assessment, indicating that your patient wishes to access The Open Door Project.

If you are interested in attending Open Door or know someone that may benefit from our service, Please visit us for an informal taster session.
