Nottingham City Council is preparing a new Local Plan for the city. As part of this work, we will shortly be carrying out a Call for Sites.

A Call for Sites provides an opportunity for landowners, developers, organisations and other interested parties to suggest land that could be considered through the Local Plan process.

The Call for Sites is not yet open.

Further information about when the Call for Sites will take place and how sites can be submitted will be published on this page.

Find our further details about the planned Call for Sites below.

A Call for Sites is a way of identifying land that may have potential to accommodate future development or other uses.

It allows landowners, developers, organisations and other interested parties to put forward sites for the Council to consider as it prepares its new Local Plan.

Sites submitted through the Call for Sites will form one source of information used by the Council to identify potential development opportunities. The Government expects councils to undertake a thorough process to identify available land so that potential sites can subsequently be assessed.

Stage 1: Identifying sites - GOV.UK

The Council will publish further details about the types and sizes of sites it is seeking when the Call for Sites opens.

Proposed land uses could include:

  • HousingĀ
  • Gypsy & Travellers, and Travelling Showpeople
  • Mixed Use
  • Employment
  • Renewable and low carbon energy and heat
  • Biodiversity Improvement / Offsetting
  • Green Belt Compensatory Land
  • Land for Tree Planting
  • Other

Please do not submit sites at this stage. Details of what information will be required and how to make a submission will be provided when the Call for Sites opens.

No.

Submitting a site through the Call for Sites will not mean that it will automatically be allocated for development in the Local Plan or that planning permission will be granted.

Sites put forward will need to be considered and assessed as part of the Local Plan preparation process alongside other evidence and relevant planning considerations.

The Call for Sites will take place shortly as part of the preparation of Nottingham's new Local Plan.

We will publish the dates and further details on this page once arrangements have been confirmed.

When the Call for Sites opens, we will provide details on this page explaining how to submit a site, what type and size of sites we are looking for and the information you will need to provide.

There is no ability to submit a site at this stage.

If you register your interest in the Local Plan Review, we will let you know when the Call for Sites opens.

Once the Call for Sites has closed, the Council will consider the sites submitted alongside other potential sites and relevant evidence.

Sites will be assessed through the Local Plan process to determine whether they could be suitable for future development or other uses.

Putting forward a site does not guarantee that it will be included as an allocation in the new Local Plan or subsequently granted planning permission. This reflects the approach used by other authorities and the Government's site-identification process.
